Steel storage containers are a great idea if you plan on moving out of your current home and

decide to travel for a while. Or if you just need storage for a few months because you’re building a new home. They are also good as an extra room for storage. As you see there are many options for all of your storage needs. Most self storage units will be brought to your location.

Steel Storage Containers for Rent

From what we saw all of the moving storage units said that their units are clean and provide a chemical free environment. Many made a point of telling how many tests they put their units through to ensure that your household goods will be protected. Depending on the size of the portable storage unit some can be parked in the same amount of space a vehicle would fit. Others were made to be parked on the side of a building, just depends on what size you are looking for.

Payments may vary depending upon the storage container company; however most seem to have the same policy. Make a 24 to 48 hour reservation for delivery. An initial credit card payment will be required then once you see how many moving containers you need, additional charges will be calculated. Be sure to get an estimate of any additional storage units you use.

Steel storage companies will offer to rent or sell their containers. They also typically will not offer to pick them up after you pack them as the way their trucks pick up containers will shift your load -- as you see in this photo. They will also not offer to store them for you as they don't pick them up. If you want a service that will pick up the container and store it for you, then you will typically want to use PODS.

These portable storage units can be rented or purchased as new or used units. Many larger companies like to purchase these steel shipping containers and have them on-site. Others purchase them and store them in a rented lot.

Steel containers are usually 8' wide and 8'6" or 9'6" high and come in a variety of lengths from 10' to 53' long. The most typical sizes are 10', 16', 20' and 40' long.
