Contact the utility companies at least several weeks prior to your move. Have the utilities operating the day before you expect to be in your new home. A wind powerreally important thing to handle - be sure that when your gas company turns on your meter to have them come in and check your pilot light. My sister just moved to a new location. When the gas company came by, they switched on the meter but never came in. Later in the day, we had to contact the gas company again, because she had a leak, scary!! Well they came within the hour and fixed the problem. That is one thing you do not want to tamper with.

One good suggestion is to take your yellow pages with you in case you need to contact anyone from your old location. It’s a good idea. Once you’ve been in your home for awhile, than recycle it.
